The Taming Of The Jew

I have a new piece on Jewcy today that discusses how, of all things, a book by a child psychologist helped Regina and I with some Elijah-related discipline problems. For once, I've written something useful and possibly meaningful. I encourage you to check it for yourself.

Meanwhile, the family returns in four hours, bringing an end to my sabbatical. As I pulled out of the driveway today at 12:30 to run some stuff to the post office and also stop on the way home for a pulled-pork sandwich at the Oinkster, I realized that I hadn't left the house, save to walk my dogs, for 48 hours. I may never enjoy a period so fallow again.

Don't forget to join the Offsprung Revolution!

I know I should be put in time-out for saying something like "This is one of our favorite parenting books." (People should not have enough parenting books to be able to make a distinction between their favorite ones and the rest.)

But this is one of our favorite parenting books.

Heck, the wife is leading a discussion group on the book at our not-a-temple church.

Regina and me? ;)

Respect us you say? Hmm. I'm going to order this book. I am having the same problem. I turned around my oldest son was a kid and not a toddler.

Morgan is having a lot of the same problems E was. We've put down some ground rules (ie mom and dad room off limits) and we're already seeing a difference.

Babies and toddlers are so easy where distraction is king.
